Golden Stone Manor is situated in the heart of the village of Alvorge in Central Portugal and is set over three floors. The house has been lovingly restored to retain as much of the character of the property as possible.
The manor house is connected to mains electricity and water and there is a telephone line installed. There are two boreholes, both of which are located to the rear of the manor house.
The manor house, which has been run as an exclusive bed and breakfast establishment, briefly comprises:
Ground Floor: The main entrance to the manor house has a hand-carved decorated stone surround. The original wooden, double opening doors have been retained and restored. This entrance leads into a double height entrance vestibule with a 'rose' style window and decorative wooden ceiling. Directly in front there is wooden staircase which leads to the first floor accommodation.
To the right of the main entrance there is a spacious en-suite bedroom. This bedroom has a wooden panelled ceiling with down lighters, laminate flooring and an external part glazed exterior door with internal wood shutters. The en-suite bathroom is partially tiled and there is a shower cubicle, pedestal sink, toilet and bidet. There is also a dressing room to this master suite.
There is a second master suite to the ground floor, which can be accessed either from the rear of the manor house of via a second internal staircase at the opposite end of the property. This master suite has a large bedroom with a laminate floor, internal wood shutters, an entrance hall/study room with an external part glazed wooden door leading to the garden. There is an en-suite bathroom, which is partially tiled and has a bath with a shower above, toilet, pedestal sink and a wall mounted towel radiator. The bathroom also has a traditional wooden panelled ceiling.
Off this bedroom there is a second hallway, with a concrete floor, with an external part glazed wooden door with internal wood shutters, which leads to the front of the manor house. Off this hallway there is a study room, which has been partially renovated. This study room could be converted into another bedroom if required to provide a family suite.
There is a wine store (adega) to the ground floor, which is accessed via the second staircase. This adega has a wooden beamed ceiling and a concrete floor.
First Floor: The staircase to the first floor has a spacious landing area to the top. There is a set of double opening, wooden panelled doors, with a glazed panel above which leads into a hallway running the length of the manor house. This hallway has a restored wooden floor and decorative tall wooden skirting boards.
Off this hallway there is a formal living room, again with restored wooden flooring. The living room is accessed via a set of double opening wooden doors with a traditional glazed panel above. The living room has a set of part glazed wooden doors which open out onto a 'Juliet' balcony to the front of the manor house. The living room also has wooden panelling to the lower walls.
There is a master suite to this floor. The bedroom has a wooden floor and internal wooden shutters. Off the bedroom there is a partially tiled bathroom. There is a bath with shower above, bidet, toilet and original pedestal sink. There is a dressing room off the bedroom, which has a wooden floor.
There are four further bedrooms to this floor, all of which have double opening, wooden panelled doors with glazed panels above. All of the bedrooms have wooden floors and internal wood shutters. Two of the bedrooms have window seats, which overlook the front of the house.
At the end of the hallway there is a second internal staircase. This staircase leads down to the second master suite and up to the attic. The staircase also has a landing area, with a part glazed wooden door, which opens onto a 'Juliet' balcony overlooking the rear of the manor house.
There is a large kitchen diner, which is accessed off the hallway. The kitchen diner has double height ceiling with traditional wooden panelling and exposed stone walls. within the kitchen there is a large traditional style fireplace and chimney, which has been restored.
The kitchen has a selection of base and eye level wooden units and marble work surfaces as well as a double marble sink and drainer. The kitchen has plumbing installed for a washing machine and a dishwasher. The kitchen has two large, double opening wooden doors which lead out to the courtyard garden.
Attic: There is a spacious attic which has a wooden floor and wooden beamed roof. The attic is currently divided into two rooms and not used as living accommodation, however it could be converted with a little work. The attic has light fittings already installed.
There is a single storey rustic kitchen adjoining the kitchen diner. The current owners have not restored this room fully. However electrics have been installed and it can be accessed either internally from the kitchen diner and externally from the rear of the manor house. This rustic kitchen has stone walls and a concrete floor with a wooden beamed roof.
The manor house is set on a plot measuring approximately 2,000 square metres. At the rear of the manor house there is a private, walled courtyard garden. At the rear of the manor house there are two substantial barns, which are currently being used for storage purposes. Both barns are detached and have wooden beamed roofs.
Barn One: The first stone barn is divided into several room divisions and is set over two floors. The is a half set of external stone stairs leading to one of the rooms. There is a large room to the rear of the barn, which has a wooden mezzanine floor.
Barn Two: The second barn is open fronted and also has a wooden beamed roof with kingposts. This barn has been used as under cover parking. There is a door opening at the end of this barn, which leads to a walled garden.
The manor house has both a formal courtyard garden and a large enclosed field. The courtyard garden has an architectural interesting octagonal covered sitting area with glazed walls. This sitting area has good views over the rest of the garden. There is ample parking for around four vehicles and there is a variety of mature shrubs and trees including lemon, fig, quince, cherry, oleander and grape vines. The property has two boreholes and there is plenty of room to have a pool installed if required.
