Happy 2017 everyone! This is my first post of the year, oh boy! It’s been a while since I last posted.
What’s new? One big change is that I’ve redesigned the website as I was getting pretty tired of the old look. Hopefully you guys agree that the new look is a vast improvement on the old one. There are still some changes that I need to make but those will come along in time.
My parents are now back in Portugal after spending the past few months in England. The last few days have been super busy for them as they’re cleaning up the house after the winter and getting the apartment ready for guests. I’ve shared some initial shots of the garden below. Mum’s happiness tends to correlate with how beautiful the garden looks, so getting the garden looking fantastic is one of our priorities.
In my own news, I’ve been living and working in Canada for nearly a year now and I haven’t seen my folks for a long time. I’ve spent the whole winter working hard and also playing hard (see photo below). I’m flying back to Portugal in a couple of weeks to visit them and help them about the house, it’s going to be so good to see them.
Back to talking about Portugal! When my parents head back there from the UK they take the ferry from Portsmouth to Santander. It works out as more cost effective for them to do that than drive the whole way through France and Spain, as both fuel and tolls really do add up quick.
They always make the most of having the space in the car and so bring back the things they miss the most or simply can’t get in Portugal. I always ask them for a photo of the car’s contents when they arrive as it amuses me how many boxes of tea bags and ginger snaps they fetch over. As I was in Canada on Christmas Day, they even brought some crackers (the ones that you pull, not eat) so we can have a late Christmas celebration (aww). I asked Mum if that meant I also got extra Christmas presents, and she pretty much told me where to go!
So what’s the house looking like? After being away from the house for several months the weeds really do take over and paintwork starts look a bit sad. Inside, the house is just cold but nothing has really changed.
There’s more to come, stay tuned! :)
